Have a great idea for a volunteering project that needs funding? We'd love to hear from you!
Do you have an idea that would benefit the local community/environment?
Do you want to build on your leadership, project management and communication skills to make a real difference in Sheffield?
Would you like to engage other students with your vision?
Do you know that support and funding is available through the SU Volunteering Office?
We are now accepting proposals for 2019/20 Volunteering Projects.
Deadline for submissions Thursday 20th June 2019
ALL current students are welcome to propose ideas (you must be a registered student in 2019/20 when your project will be active).
You do NOT need to affiliated to a society/club or elected to a committee position.
Proposals will be reviewed by a peer-led panel. Decisions will be based on:
Positive impact - potential benefit to the local community (beyond students)
Value to students - will the idea engage student volunteers and offer a meaningful experience?
Sheffield Volunteering’s Capacity - resources are finite and we can only accommodate a certain number of projects.
Examples of successful projects 2018/19:
Taster workshops in local schools & youth groups.
Sports activities with refugees/asylum seekers.
Regular and one-off activities in local care homes with older people.
One-day events such as Science Alive.
If you are successful we can provide:
Training and ongoing mentoring.
Financial support and access to resources.
Assistance finding partner organisations & recruiting student volunteers.
