Give Volunteering A Go! Try something new, see more of the city, meet other students & local people, and gain new skills! These are one-off taster activities hosted by local charitable organisations - there is no long-term commitment, but you can continue volunteering with the organisation if you like it!

All volunteering activities are free, travel costs can be reimbursed (public transport) and previous experience is not required. Information about how to get to the location will be emailed to you in advance.

Make Festive Cards to send to Older People

Could you make some festive cards to send to isolated older people in Sheffield? Get creative, do something fun with friends, and bring some festive joy to older people in Sheffield who are supported by the charity SCCCC. All materials provided. No experience or skills required. At your Students' Union, Activities Zone.

Tudor Christmas Weekend Volunteer at Sheffield Manor Lodge

Join the Tudor festivities as a volunteer at Sheffield Manor Lodge Christmas weekends! There will be a fire pit, 12 days of Christmas trail and 2 traditional crafts for families and visitors. Volunteer duties include: Welcoming guests to the site; looking after guests; helping clean and maintain the craft tables; helping to keep children from getting too close to the fire pit.  Choice of day and time:

Snowflake Christmas Lights Switch On - The Children's Hospital Charity

The Snowflake Lights Switch On is an iconic event in the hospital calendar, raising money for life-saving services for children in Sheffield and South Yorkshire. You can be part of it! As a volunteer at this festive event, you will help with Registration, Selling Raffle tickets and Marshalling.

Monday 6th December, 4.15pm- 7pm (briefing from 4.30pm)


Christmas Festival of Music - Event Helper with ASSIST

Kick off your Christmas festivities and help at the Festival of Music, an iconic Sheffield event raising money for the local charity ASSIST, who support Refugees and Asylum Seekers. Your role as a volunteer event helper will be to meet and greet members of the public, serve refreshments, sell greetings cards and other small tasks on the night. You will get to enjoy the music too!

Friday 10th or Saturday 11th December, 5.30pm - 11pm


Zest Christmas Family Fun Day

Get festive at Zest and help out at the annual Christmas family fun day for the local community! There will be a Santa’s Grotto, Craft activities, Gingerbread Icing, Face painting, Balloon modelling, Tombola, Choir and much more.
