Children and Family Support Buddy - Cookery Club

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

Promote positive family time and healthier eating habits by helping out at our BBC Children in Need funded cookery clubs. This weekly club encourages children and parents to bond while learning to cook healthy and tasty dishes. Volunteers help them to join in and signpost to other family support.

What skills do I need?

To be friendly, caring and responsible. Able to engage with children Good spoken & written English skills.

Training and support

You will benefit from full training, which includes 2 x 3-hour sessions and ongoing training. You should be available to attend all the training. Regular supervision and support.

Time commitment

Once per week between 2:30pm and 5:00pm term time, on a Monday or Tuesday. For 1 or more terms. During 2017 the project will run on MONDAYs.

We need students to volunteer as 'Number Heroes' making 4 visits to a local primary school, supporting children with their counting and number games. No special maths knowledge is required, just a friendly and positive attitude. Training is provided.

Volunteer Gardener
Green City Action

To help us maintain our community allotment for work with schools, women's groups & local community. We need people to carry out gardening tasks on our community allotment ie preparing soil, planting, weeding, harvesting etc. You will learn how to garden, work outside.
