We provide information, advice, training and support to Chinese members in order to help them develop community integration, employability and language skills.

English Tutor 2019/20

This opportunity takes place between 14 Sep 2019 and 31 Aug 2020.

Teaching elder Chinese members to learn Basic spoken English for communication with medical professionals (e.g. when attending appointment in health care clinic / hospitals / dental / optical etc.)

What skills do I need?

Fluent English and Chinese (either Mandarin or Cantonese or both)

What will I gain?

Teaching experience, better CV, improve communication skills and self confidence, presentation and creative skills

Training and support

Guidance and support given by the Centre manager and Project staff at the Sheffield Chinese Community Centre

Time commitment

1 hour weekly for the lesson base at the Centre (about 8 to 10 learners) about 2 hours to prepare learning materials in advance (off site) English Class (with Mandarin speaking learners) on Every Tue at 11:30 to 12:30 English Class (with Cantonese speaking learners) on every Wed. at 11:15 to 12:15
