The Library Of Life is an independent popup library service which predominately shelves literary works of Black British authors who celebrate the African Diaspora. We work with schools, colleges and universities delivering talks, workshops and drop ins

Library Administration Assistant 2019/20

This opportunity takes place until 31 Aug 2020.

We are a startup community library with ambitions of creating an environment which is unique and authentic to any library the U.K has ever seen. In order to achieve this, we are looking for proactive candidates who value autonomy and leadership. We expect our volunteers to thrive by using their initiative and being resourceful. We give all volunteers the freedom to share ideas and contribute towards the direction of our library as we value the people who are the frontline of the service. We offer full training (so no previous experience is needed) and we support each volunteer to ensure they gain a return on investment of their time. You can choose shifts according to your availability so its flexible and can fit around your other commitments.

What skills do I need?

You will need good organisational skills to manage your own diary You will need good communication skills to ensure messages reach our team and audience You will need a good eye for detail You will need creativity and the ability to think outside of the box You will need to be proactive and use your initiative You will need a can do attitude and willingness to learn new things

What will I gain?

You will learn how to use Canva, Word, Excel, Wordpress, Libib and all our other software which we use You will learn how to lead a small team You will gain an understanding on the finance aspect of the enterprise You will lead your own smaller projects You will gain qualifications which may be relevant to your career choices Something to put on your Cv to help you stand out

Training and support

You will be given full training on every software which you use You will be supervised throughout your volunteering experience You will be offered to go training courses throughout the year You will be assigned a mentor to help you fulfil your potential You will be given induction training to get you up to speed

Time commitment

1-2 hours per week we are very flexible you can do work on site or off site for your own suitability
