Engage with our residents to provide a wider range of opportunities to enhance the service we provide.
You will visit and befriend residents of a Sheffcare Care Home to improve their health and well-being and enhance their overall quality of life.
You would work with residents on a one-to-one basis or in a group situation. This can include:
Spending time talking with residents and reminiscing
Reading to residents
Helping residents join in a wide variety of activities – you may have particular areas of interest that you could bring to us
Accompanying residents on trips with other members of staff
Accompanying residents on short trips outside the home e.g. walking to a local shop or park as and when agreed by the care home manager/shift leader
What skills do I need?
Great interpersonal skills
Patient and caring
A good listener
Reliable with an understanding of the need for confidentiality in a care setting
Experience of working/ volunteering with older people
Ability to work unsupervised, and use your own initiative within the lines of the training that will be provided

We will reimburse you for out-of-pocket travel expenses. You will receive free drinks and could have a free meal if you are volunteering for over 4 hours over a meal time.
