Do you have your own vehicle? Are you able to give your time to drive? Helping us to deliver resources or helping refugees and asylum seekers who don't have transport to get to appointments? (Sheffield based - starting in January 2021)
As a Driver Volunteer you work one to one with refugees and asylum seekers who are using our services and be able to give your time for one year.
We are looking for people who have a valid driving license, access to their own vehicle and are able collected during office hours from Monday to Friday (9-5pm) from the office: 24 Jessops Riverside, Bradbury House, 800 Brightside Lane, Sheffield, S9 2RX.
Tasks included in this Role:
- Driving your own vehicle to collect or distribute food or clothing as part of our Emergency Provision
- Helping with the movement and storage of stock
- Driving your own vehicle to transport clients to and from appointments
- Maintaining full records of deliveries, collections and places visited
What skills do I need?
You need to have good interpersonal, diplomacy, communication and teamwork skills although full training will be given for any technical requirements. Also:
- Has local driving knowledge
- Has Business insurance or similar cover
- A good communicator and empathetic to the situation and needs of
asylum seekers and refugees
- Able to work alone and unsupervised as required
- Able to lift, move and store stock safely
- Able to use emotional support skills in a calm manner
- Personally resilient as you may need to deal with difficult or challenging situations

Time commitment
Able to volunteer for a year collecting resources from the office Monday- Friday 9am-5pm and delivering them at a time which suits the volunteer and client.
