Deliver the hampers (full of food and activities) – to a family’s home or to collection locations - and carry out a quick welfare check with the family
This programme is coordinated by VAS (Voluntary Action Sheffield), and implemented by 5 partner charities/ hubs in local communities.
This role involved: delivering a pre-prepared family food and activity hamper to specific households in a hub area - leaving the hamper at the doorstep or gate, retreating to at least 3 metres - contacting the person by email or text to let them know the hamper has been delivered - waiting until the recipient opens the door to make sure they have received the hamper - carrying out a quick welfare check with them – still from a safe 3 metre distance to check they have everything they need and don’t require any more assistance - Text/ message the co-ordinator and let them know you have completed the task - washing your hands thoroughly (for at least 20 seconds) before and after carrying out your volunteering activity, following government guidelines to help minimise any risk of infection.
You will not be handling or sharing money with the person you are delivering the hamper to.
If you, or any members of your household, have any coronavirus symptoms you should not do any volunteering. Instead you should call or email us as soon as possible so we can cancel your volunteering and offer you any support you might need.
This role has short shifts, for a couple of hours either in the morning or the afternoon. You can sign up for one shift or do as many as you like. There are hundreds of shifts to cover over the 5 weeks the programme is running over the holidays (w/c 20th July - 31 August).
