Join a local community hub team and help pack up hampers with food and activity packs. These packs will be distributed to families and children in the hub's local community.
This programme is coordinated by VAS (Voluntary Action Sheffield), and implemented by 5 partner charities/ hubs in local communities.
This role involves: - checking deliveries from wholesalers and ingredients against a checklist and sorting items into food types and activities, ready for packing - making up food and activity hampers to specific checklist each week - working to social distancing guidelines in a managed access depot to manage and support collection of hampers by participating families - working with the coordination team to manage a store and distribution centre with delivery volunteers for delivery to families participating in the healthy holidays programme - following strict hygiene and PPE guidance in preparing hampers and working with food storage - washing your hands thoroughly (for at least 20 seconds) before and after carrying out your volunteering activity, following government guidelines to help minimise any risk of infection.
If you, or any members of your household, have any coronavirus symptoms you should not do any volunteering. Instead you should call or email VAS as soon as possible so they can cancel your volunteering and offer you any support you might need.
This role has short shifts, for a couple of hours either in the morning or the afternoon. You can sign up for one shift or do as many as you like. There are hundreds of shifts to cover over the 5 weeks the programme is running over the holidays (w/c 20th July - 31 August).
