Whinfell Quarry Gardens is a beautiful Victorian garden built in 1890 by the Doncaster family, now owned by Sheffield City Council. Volunteers do the restoration work to maintain its natural beauty.

Volunteer Work Days 2021/22

This opportunity takes place between 09 Sep 2021 and 31 Aug 2022

Participate in one of our volunteering work days that happen throughout the year. We work at Whinfell Quarry Garden to help restore the area. Wear boots and have a rewarding morning helping us! Examples of possible work include, clearing vegetation, renovating paths and drains, planting, and tree pruning. The workdays are monthly, check the FWQG Facebook page for updates.

Due to the most recent government restrictions, to protect the safety, health and well being of all concerned, group sizes are limited so you must apply and have a discussion with the volunteer coordinator before attending any session.

You must bring your own gloves for healthy & safety issues linked to C19. Normally we provide hot & cold drinks, but currently we can only provide cold drinks (single person bottles of mineral water) and individually wrapped biscuits.

Saturdays between 09:30 - 13:00, 23rd April, 14th May, 25th June, 16th July, 20th August
