Community Toolbank Volunteer 2020/21 (expression of interest)

This opportunity takes place between 10 Sep 2019 and 31 Aug 2021.

We are looking for volunteers for our community Toolbank, where we hire out DIY and gardening tools at low cost to people in the local community and the rest of Sheffield. You would work in a small knowledgeable team, to hire tools to members of the public; help with tool maintenance; and updating our tool inventory online.

Please note: Due to Covid-19, the allotment sessions are active, but we have far fewer spaces available. You can still apply to register your interest and a member of the team will contact you about volunteering in the future

What skills do I need?

Skills in DIY and gardening would be useful, as would skills in maintaining or fixing hand, and power tools would be useful. However, you will be working alongside knowledgeable members of staff and other volunteers and could learn new skills. An interest in tools, DIY or the 'share economy' is important

What will I gain?

You will gain skills in tool maintenance, dealing with members of the public, working in a small social enterprise etc.

Training and support

We will give volunteer induction and supervision and you will work alongside experienced team members, learning new skills.

Time commitment

We open to the public Saturdays 10am-12noon. We are also open Tuesdays 10am-12noon for tool maintenance, admin and updating our online inventory. You will be able to volunteer in either of these time slots.
