Casual Volunteer 2020/21

This opportunity takes place between 01 Oct 2020 and 30 Dec 2021

River Stewardship Company (RSC) run volunteer days on the River Don in Sheffield to manage litter and debris and to clear vegetation. The aim is to create a biodiverse river that can be enjoyed by the general public as well as control flood risk.

Volunteer days currently run every Tuesday, at various points along the river Don, 10am - 1pm. We provide all tools and equipment, as well as safety and hygeine equipment due to covid-19, but ask that you wear sturdy boots and clothing appropriate for the weather.

Register as a volunteer and sign up to our mailing list by clicking here. You will then receive emails about upcoming volunteer days and can sign up to a session.

Upcoming volunteer days will be also advertised regularly on Facebook, through which you can register. You can follow us at www.facebook.com/RiverStewards

To ensure everyone's safety, we are still restricting numbers and asking people to adhere to social distancing and hygine guidelines. Volunteers will need to follow the Government’s Rule of 6 and local instructions. Due to guidelines, it is ESSENTIAL that you register and sign up to the specific session so that we can limit attendees and ensure everyones safety.

The River Stewardship Company manages the Riverlution programme, which offers regular volunteer days in partnership with several organisations, to help protect waterways for people and wildlife. There’s always something to get involved from litter picking and debris removal to scrub clearance and vegetation management.
